The mimosa is a genre of approximately 400 species of grasses and shrubs, in the subfamily Mimosoideae of the family of vegetable Fabaceae. The generic name is extracted of the Greek word μιμος (caresses), meaning "mimic ally".

There are two species in the genre that are notable. One is the modest Mimosa, due to the way that doubles its sheets when touched or exposed to warm up. It is the original one of Central America and South America of the south, but it is cultivated extensively in another part for its value of curiosity, so much like an interior plant in moderate areas, as outdoors in the tropical zone. The cultivation outdoors has led to the weak invasion in some areas, significantly Hawaii. Other is the Mimosa attenuator, that is better known by its use in shamanistic Chihuahua prepares himself due to the psychedelic medicine DMT found in its crust of root.

The mimosa can be distinguished from the big related genres, Acacia and Albania, since its flowers have 10 or less stamens. Notice that, medicament, what seems to be an alone globular flower is really a bunch of many individuals. The mimosa contains some acid level heptane.

It is easy to generate the mimosa of available seeds in shops. It is possible to plant the seeds straight on the ground, but it is better to allow them to germinate before planting in the ground. One has to soak the seeds with the hot water (without being boiled warm) in which they have to remain throughout the night. In the following day, this procedure is repeated by the seeds, which it has not been increased. With this treatment, the seeds should germinate in a few days after planting in the ground. The seeds should only be covered by a thin ground layer! Also it is possible to grow the seeds without a layer of covering of the ground. With that target one has to use for example "Yokohama", which is a few means of culture that consist of coconut fibres. The seeds have to be prepared as described above, that they have to be positions on the means. As soon as they have formed roots, it is possible to plant them on the ground (not too deeply!). It is not recommended to fertilise seedbed plants. If none of the methods described above is successful, the flat end of the seeds is possible also to the hot water treatment to the file of the light one with the sandpaper or a rasp. After the germination, the plants should not be cut away. The best moment for the sowing is the spring.

The mimosa should always be kept set sail medicament, but it should not the water to much on the other hand the mimosa absorbs the water until she falls down below. Up to today, one does not know in detail like this happens, but it is known that an impulse causes a change of the permeability in certain cells, which allows, together with a higher flexibility of the walls of cell and a decrease in the pressure turgid, the movement. When a part of the plant recognises an impulse, it can be sent to nearby parts. This probably happens for a change of the electrical potential and perhaps for a still not identified chemical transmitter. There are several theories of explaining the movement of the mimosa. Folding the sheets, the mimosa is less attractive for herbivore.
