PATCHING NAIL HOLES
Overview:
Often times there are nail holes located throughout a house that need to be repaired. To patch a nail hole there is only one material that will be needed, Shrink-Free Wall Spackle. This type of Spackle can be found at most painting and home improvement stores. Shrink-Free Wall Spackle is different from regular Spackle and drywall mud. It is light and has an airy texture, almost like a light frosting for a cake and it does not shrink when placed into nail or screw holes.
The Repair:
Using a 1½ -inch taping knife and drywall mud to patch nail holes is a common mistake made by some homeowners. This technique covers the hole, but also leaves a flat, untextured spot in the middle of the wall that is highly visible from any angle.
To patch, repair or fill in a nail or screw hole without ruining the texture of the wall, simply fill the hole with a small amount of Shrink-Free Spackle using your finger. Ensure that any excess Spackle is wiped clean with another finger so that only the hole is filled in. After about 10-minutes the area can be painted and the repair is complete.
